TiltTeamPresence

Why this utility?

There are many cases when you are working but you appear as not being active. You may be reading documents, writing a project on paper, be on a cellular phone call with a customer. Teams will turn your activity icon to orange meaning you're not working.

Being away from the keyboard doesn't mean you're idle and lazy. Some companies monitor your "activity" by checking your Teams status. This little utility helps you show you're present in cases you're working away from your computer.

What it does

This Windows application simulates a fake activity on your computer by sending fake Mouse UP signals to Windows to keep the Teams session active.

This Delphi application sends three MOUSE UP signals at the current position, every minute making Teams think you're active. This helps make you always appear with a green icon in Teams.

It has not been tested with other solutions, like Zoom, but it should have the same effect on them since Windows is handling the activity.

Warning

Use it accordingly to your company's policy. Some companies may forbid such tools. But they should inform you first.

How to use it

  • Download the BatteryHealth.zip file from the Releases section of this repository and unzip it
  • Launch the app
  • Click Start Monitoring and it will start sending mouse activities for you.
  • You can minimize the window while working.
  • Click Stop Monitoring to stop faking your activity. Remember to disable it, say, if you leave for lunch.

The name

To make the app less suspicious, it has been named BatteryHealth so the users can prentend they are monitoring the battery health of their computer.

Info for developers

The app has been written with Delphi 13.n but should work with most lower versions. It only uses default VCL components, no third parties.

The app uses a thread in order not to steal the resources and also lets the user still click the Stop button to regain control and stop the fake activity.
